Also, new accounts made AFTER the name change update will get this error too. And after reaching out to some folks over at Activision's support forum, it turns out the culprit was the PS4's ability to change the account name. This is a very common issue, especially on the PS3. So heres a copy+paste from last years guide as it still holds true. Its 2021 and we STILL have this issue, specifically on PS3.
